Do you know how high or low your state or city ranks on the 2023 Halloween Decorating Spirit?

Unfortunately, my city of Chicago ranks 27 out 30 for Halloween Spirit. However, that is only according to a google study. My neighborhood has lots of Halloween spirit and many houses are decorated inside and out with halloween lights, pumpkins and decor. Click on the photo below to find your state and city.

What is your favorite Halloween decoration? I think pumpkin is mine followed by black cats, bats and skeletons. Spooky and Fun for me….no gore please LOL!

Here are some ideas of what you can make for Halloween:

The fastest project with loads of cuteness: coasters

Coasters: standard coaster size 4x4 or 5x5 square, circle or any shape.. These can easily be made and adds a whimsical and seasonal feeling to your home.

Halloween:

Ghost coasters pattern by A spoonful of Sugar on Etsy
Idea: candy corn coasters - sew three fabric strips together. Make a triangle with rounded corners template coaster size ie 5” x 5”

Fall Coasters:

Pumpkin Coasters pattern by Minki KIm. Also free pumpkin pot holder pattern and oven mitt pattern free.

Halloween Panels:

Shabby Fabrics: Glow -o- ween panel by Kanvas Studios. Don’t forget glow in the dark thread - any brand but I have an amazon link to wonderfil glow in the dark thread. This wonderfil is 40 wt which is a nice thick top stitch weight that will produce a nice visible glow. There is even hand embroidery glow in the dark thread by DMC sold at JoAnn. Note - the glow in the dark thread lasts about 15 minutes and will reactivate when exposed to light. It will last a lot longer under black light. Or - use wearable rope light that can be stitched or glued onto fabric items and costumes. These lights will last a long time with the AA batteries.

Moda: Harvest Wishes Panel by Deb Strain. Seams Sew Perfect quilt shop in Maine and online. This is where I get myself in trouble.... I research for the podcast and end up not being able to resist buying something. Out of all of these fabrics, I did reign myself in, but I did order the Harvest Wishes Panel and a half yard of the aqua color way of tiny tossed pumpkins.
