Chit Chat with Stephanie
Hey everyone! Thank you for listening to my podcast show. I hope you enjoyed season 3 this past year. I have had an amazingly great time talking with wonderfully talented and inspiring guests this season, and with my solo episodes as well. I will post some oldies but goodies episodes this summer, so make sure you are subscribed to the podcast so you do not miss the re-runs - LOL!
Also, sign up for my newsletter if you want updates. I will announce the launch of Make and Decorate Friends group on Mighty Networks. This is a free private group with no ads, no trolls, just us friends connecting with each other and posting our makes etc. If you want to be part of my small beta test group, send me an email at friends@makeanddecorate.com - or DM me on IG @Stephanie.socha.design
Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend in the states, and a beautiful Summer of 2021! Let’s get back to IRL (in real life) fun! woo hoo!!
With much love,
Stephanie
Birthday Bunting Completed
Heat Transfer T-shirts for party
Stack of knitted dishcloths gifted to Mom
Framed Antique quilt blocks gift for Mom
These quilt blocks were made by my great grandmother. After a nice soak in organic quilt soap, I pieced 4 blocks together with stabilizer fused onto the back to give them more strength as they are delicate. I machine appliqué’d the silk duppioni heart in a rose motif (which is the flower symbol for 70th Birthday), heat fixed crystals in sphere and emerald crystals on the flower and leaves, and made a self fringe around the edge of the heart.
Tea Party fun
Clydebank Tote Completed
This is a Sew Sweetness free pattern, the Clydebank Tote, that I pieced the front exterior piece with a foundation paper pieced block from the Tartan Kiwi, Singing in the Rain. Recessed zipper and fun grunge dot lining.
Trip to the Garden Center
I don’t know about you, but flowers and herbs make me soooo happy! I am so excited about my container garden on my deck this year because I am doing something a little different…I am growing a “tea garden”. I grouped together a section of containers for my tea garden and I will be able to clip fresh and steep for about 10 minutes for herbal tea this summer. I hope to be able to dry some hibiscus blooms if I have enough, and maybe some of the herbs as well. It will be a fun experiment.
Instead of 3 Mandevilla vine plants for my trellis wall, I am doing two with a hibiscus in the middle. Plus, my poppies from last year came back in some of the containers.
Tea Garden
This is the book I have and really like. It references lots of tea plants and herbs that can be grown, dried and or used fresh to make your own tea blends. Unfortunately, I live in a zone that is too cold for tea plants, so I will stick with growing herbal teas.
Garment Sewing for Summer
Here are the patterns I bought and a couple on my list to buy to make this summer. Wish me luck - LOL!
