Memorial Day:

This is my brother, David, at the ceremony dedicating a street block name to a fallen soldier, Corporal Sarah Medina, on Memorial Day. I hope we never forget to honor our service men and women who have sacrificed their lives (many so young lives) so that we can remain a free nation.

Gardening

I have a couple of climbing rose bushes in the back yard that are in full bloom along with the Wisteria blooms along our deck. We have not touched the back yard yet as far as planting new zinnia and sunflower seeds and weeding the plant beds. Things are overgrown and need cultivating attention. That will have to wait another week, as I focus on the container garden on the deck, which is much more fun anyways😉

The initial shopping trip of the season for flowers is always the most fun for me. I look forward to it like a kid on Christmas Eve. I was also prepared with a mental list of statement plants I wanted to get, and the standard staples ie herbs, purple fountain grass, super wave petunias, trailing vines like sweet potato vine. Below are photos of some of the statement flowers like the Kashmir rose bush, dwarf Alberta Spruce and mandevillas. I am very happy with my flower haul this year.

What makes it even sweeter are the seedlings I grew this year. I didn’t have to purchase as many petunias and fillers like alyssum. I only needed to buy one lavender plant as I have a bunch of lavender seedlings. All of which have saved money so that i could get fancier statement plants!

PODCAST GUEST: VICKI HOLLOWAY, MY CREATIVE CORNER3

Vicki Holloway is back to chat with me.  I wanted to have Vicki back on my podcast, because I listen to her podcast and we have become friends and have lots to chat about!  I love that we do not do everything the same, and have different likes and dislikes of sewing, crafting and gardening.

This is a great video tutorial if you want to learn the Norwegian way to do the purl stitch in knitting. I love this video and have watched it time and again when I need a refresher on how to do this purl stitch.
