Today is my birthday, and although there was no going out to celebrate, it will not be forgotten. So much is happening in a short time for all of us around the world with the Covid-19 virus. Every day there are changes to suggested to mandated “shelter in place” in my state.

I am so glad I prepared this episode last week, because this week I have been under the weather with a flu. I have tried to keep up with normal activities at home, and am quickly reminded that I need to go back to bed. Needless to say, I will be in self quarantine at least the next two weeks, maybe more.

Since I have had a lot of time in bed this week, I have watched a lot of Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. I’ll share a few shows that I found very good.

  • Netflix: The English Game : developed by Julien Fellowes (also developed Downton Abbey) set in Edwardian late 1800s and follows the beginning of football in England - which is soccer to us Americans. There is much more than soccer in this series, and I absolutely loved it.

  • Netflix: Self Made: This is about the first self made millionaire, Madame CJ Walker, who made an empire from her hair product. Excellent series! I loved it.

  • Netflix: Derry Girls: Set in the 90s, Derry, Ireland. The story is about catholic school teen kids who are always getting themselves in trouble. This is a funny comedy with just the right amount of irreverence that makes it a very good show - plus I get nostalgic with the cool 90s music, fashion and pop culture that was my youth!

  • Hulu: Little Fires Everywhere : Reese Witherspoon, Kerry Washington….need I say more? Amazing show.

  • Hulu: DCI Banks: British Crime show. I love all British movies, tv and especially masterpiece shows and Crime shows like this one. I like the cerebral storylines, beautiful cinematography and great actors of British shows like this one. It can get heavy with some grim crime topics, but I think they balance it well overall.

  • Amazon Prime: Downton Abbey : This show is so heart warming with interesting characters and of course the beautiful costumes and gorgeous British scenery. It is just as good watching again for the 2nd time as it was the first time.

Next episode:

Depending on how long I am down with this flu, I may not be able to publish the regular episode next week. I will definitely make every effort to do so, but I also now know the importance of getting required rest in order to get well again. If the new episode does not publish next week, it will go up the following week.

Take care!

See below - I am learning to knit while on bed rest :). It keeps my spirits up and makes me happy to work with pretty colors.

Happy quilting, sewing and making all things creative! I wish you all health, happiness and well being during this crazy time we are all experiencing.
