M&D S2 E43: Sophia, My Great Challenge

Happy February!

This time of year is the hardest part of winter for me to get through because of the lack of sun. We have only seen the sun one day in the past couple weeks, and will not see it again until the weekend, if we are lucky. On the bright side, new quilting projects adorn my work table! One of my favorite parts of starting a new quilt is pulling the fabrics - which is also my favorite part of interior design…pulling and putting together fabric palettes.

I love to mix fabric collections, however, there are a few quilt fabric lines where the entire collection can be used easily together and not look too “contrived” or predictable. Alison Glass’s fabric is one of those lines. She designs background fabrics with low volume patterns that creates interest, textured solids, different scaled prints, a large statement print and pretty much all of her collections can be mixed together.

I talk about this in segment 1 of the show: I have to make a throw quilt by 2/15 - less than a week away. Hopefully, by the time you read this, I will have received my fabrics for this quilt. In the meantime, I have cut out the templates and made the binding. The quilt pattern I am making is by Allison Glass called, Cathedral.
