Heidi Parkes

I had the absolute honor and pleasure to have Heidi Parkes on my podcast to talk about hand quilting. Heidi is a trained fine artist and went to the Art Institute of Chicago. Her art today is quilting, hand quilting and mixed media fiber arts.

Heidi’s creative story is so wonderful, you will hear this and how she became a professional quilter and educator on the podcast.

Also, as we dive into the world of hand quilting, Heidi shares the tools and process of hand quilting. She is so inspiring, and I cannot wait to try this on my quilts.

Taking care of our hands while sewing is extremely important, and Heidi has a couple of good resources to help with caring for your hands and taking breaks to do some yoga type therapy for preventive care. It is no fun to injure your fingers, tendons or muscles while sewing. You can click on the photos below to purchase a downloadable Zine, and an MP3 Audio on yoga and occupational therapy for hand care.

Cooper’s Bed and My Newsletter Published

I talked about how I made Cooper’s dog bed in a rush for our road trip. Even though there are “wonky” corners, I really like this bed, and Cooper approves, which is the most important part, LOL! I have closeup pics of my fab zipper that I am super proud of. Funny how I got the seemingly difficult part perfect, and not the silly corners. Click on my instagram feed below to view all the pictures, and to see the reverse side of this bed.

I got the first issue of my newsletter completed and published this week. If you signed up for it, check your email and let me know how you like it. I am calling my newsletter The Maker’s Journal , and each issue will have updates on the podcast, projects and other sewing, quilting and creative lifestyle things that will spark your interest.
